Wow! I can’t believe this album was released in 2021. I am reviewing the vinyl copy today. Physically, it has a brown and tan color scheme. It is very reminiscent of something you would see in the 70’s which is very fitting for the sound and feel of the album.

It has a nice big hype stick and included is just 1 LP.

SIDE 1

  1. The album opens with the Silk Sonic intro, which was very good. Bootsy Collins is featured and immediately sets the vibe. As an intro, it did what it needed to do. 

  2. Next, we have the first song, “Leave the Door Open”, The Perfect Opening song for this album. It’s timeless and it’s the song we all know and love. 

  3. Fly As Me - I love the message. It’s about deserving to be with somebody as fly as yourself. It’s smooth, and funky, and brings the energy up from the previous track.

  4. After last night - This song is very sexy. It sounds like the next morning. Funky sexy vibes. This is a 10!

  5. Smoking Out The Window - Amazing! We heard this all over the radio! The pinnacle of R&B! This song is a stark reminder about what happens when the relationship doesn’t work out. Favorite line “I hope yo trifling ass walking around barefoot in these streets!

SIDE 2

  1. Put On a Smile - Talks about a situation where you may hate how a situation turned out and you faking the funk. We’ve all been there. 

  2. 777 - Rock, I like this song but after hearing about Bruno Mars’ alleged gambling problems, I find the subject matter a bit ironic. 

  3. Skate - This is my favorite song off this album- it’s happy, it’s fun, It’s one of those songs I just never skip and it always gets me moving and feeling good!

  4. Blast Off - I enjoyed this song and closing to the album, extremely funky, immensely 70’s, and incredibly relaxing.

This album was a must-have for me! I love anything Bruno Mars, and if it’s one thing Bruno is gonna do, it’s MAKE A HIT! I wish it could have been a little longer, but that is just because it is so good. Sometimes it’s about the quality and not the quantity.

I forgot how much I liked this album. In the future, I think I will be listening to this gem a little more often!
